STG was formed by Royal Decree by His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qassimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, in November 2007 and is responsible for managing, operating and programming seven of His Highness's purpose built theatres.

STG will aim to take the Performing Arts in Sharjah to the next level and beyond. Using theatre as a tool to shake hands with the rest of the world and to portray the Arab world in a positive creative and cultural light.

Sharjah still covets and treasures the honourable title of 'Cultural Capital of the Arab World' bestowed upon it by UNESCO. STG is working closely with organisations both home here in the UAE, and with other Internationally renowned performing arts organisations to achieve the reality of the great honour that was bestowed upon it.
